Tom Aley, President and CEO

Tom Aley
Senior Vice President and Managing Director

Tom is currently the Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Dow Jones' Business and Relationship Intelligence group.  This group works within the Enterprise Media Group at Dow Jones and combines the solutions from Dow Jones SalesWorks and the recently acquired Generate Inc. targeted at the enterprise sales and media segments.

Tom co-founded Generate Inc. where as President and CEO he was responsible for the company's vision and strategic direction, management, and technology development.  With over 20 years experience in the information, software, and media industries, Tom has a proven track record of driving sales and building and investing in successful companies.

Prior to founding Generate, Tom was a Partner at Reed Elsevier Ventures, the venture arm of the $8 billion media company where he co-led investments. Earlier Tom was Executive Vice President at Stonepath Group, a VC firm, where he co-led the company’s initial public offering. 

  

Darr Aley, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

Darr Aley
Vice President, Marketing and Business Development

Darr has 20 years of experience building companies in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer technology, software, and Internet segments.

Prior to co-founding Generate, Darr helped direct corporate development and M&A at Amazon.com. He led and managed negotiations for several retail and technology acquisitions including Amazon’s expansion into China. Prior to this he was hired out of Accenture by Amazon to help build their e-commerce ASP Services business, focused on selling Amazon’s best in breed retail solutions to F500 global retailers. This grew to become a $700M business unit for Amazon over the last four years.

As an entrepreneur Darr has started or joined several early stage companies whose successful exits have totaled over $600M. Included in these were Shiva (sold to Intel), Avatar (sold to DCA), Zip2 (sold to Compaq), WhoWhere (sold to Lycos), and Epylon (sold to Accenture). Darr held executive roles in marketing, business and corporate development at each of these companies. He and his brother Tom also worked together with executives from Bank of America and Goldman Sachs to create the Stonepath Group, a venture group focused on early stage businesses.

 

John C. Gregitis
Vice President of Global Sales

John is a 24-year technology industry veteran with deep experience in building world class sales teams that aggressively capitalize on emerging market opportunities.  He is responsible for building, leading and managing the Dow Jones Business and Relationship Intelligence global sales team.

Prior to joining Dow Jones, John had an impressive series of achievements at Sunguard. As senior vice president, he led a team responsible for generating more than $1B in revenue. He quickly proved himself, rebuilding a sales team and increasing client retention while maintaining a profitable line of business by recruiting a stellar enterprise sales leadership team and instilling a performance-based culture.

During his more than two decades leading sales organizations, John has been known for returning companies to profitability, deftly raising capital, and contributing to strategic acquisitions. Before joining Sunguard, he led several emerging enterprise software organizations and was one of the founders of Naviant, which specializes in targeted advertising for online consumers.


Jeff Bruce, Executive Vice President, Business Development & Strategy

Jeff brings 20 years of technology, media and information sales and senior management experience to the company. He has successfully scaled revenue and client bases at all 5 of his previous companies.

Prior to Generate, Jeff was President of Publishing for Zinio Systems, Inc. where he helped establish the category for digital magazine publishing and position the company as the dominant industry leader with 94% market share. At Zinio, Jeff helped over 500 magazines launch digital editions of their product and established international sales and distribution channels in over 60 countries.

Prior to Zinio, Jeff’s experience included taking pre-revenue businesses to $550 million in sales, resulting in 3 IPOs generating $1.1 billion. He served as Vice President of Sales for Epinions (acquired by eBay), and SVP, Ad Sales & Client Marketing for Women.com Networks (acquired by iVillage and later NBC). He also held sales and marketing management positions for Ziff-Davis, where he grew the company’s top accounts to $200 million in revenue. Jeff began his career in technology marketing with Everex Systems, Inc., where he managed corporate and brand advertising before heading up product management and marketing operations.

Jeff has served of the board of the Internet Advertising Bureau and on the advisory board of One Media Place (acquired by Media Passage).

 

Rob White, Executive Vice President, Product Management

Simon Bradstock 
Vice President, Product Management

Simon Bradstock oversees the teams that manage Dow Jones SalesWorks product portfolio and go-to-market strategy. With 18 years of experience in the industry, Simon oversees the definition, development, enhancement of Dow Jones corporate products with a focus on delivering content and role-based tools that drive action. Prior to that, he was the marketing communications director, responsible for planning and managing global communications strategy including campaign management, advertising and public relations in the enterprise. Prior to his roles at Dow Jones, Mr. Bradstock held positions with Reuters, where he was a member of the management team that planned and executed the joint venture with Dow Jones to form Factiva. Before this, he was an international business development manager for Reuters and was responsible for developing and managing partnerships with other companies to enhance Reuters’ position in the international marketplace.


Rob White, Executive Vice President, Product Management

Rob White

Rob has over 18 years of experience in the CRM information and enterprise software industries specializing in electronic publishing and enterprise content management.

Prior to Generate, Rob was at Siebel Systems where he launched multiple product lines. Rob founded the ERM business at Siebel which grew to over $30 million a year in license revenue. Siebel ERM was recognized as Siebel's fastest-growing product line and named Product Line of the Year. Rob also launched Siebel Collaboration, a unique integration with Microsoft Sharepoint that allows sales and service professionals to collaborate on critical business problems. Rob was also responsible for Microsoft Office integration and Siebel’s content management strategy.

Prior to Siebel, Rob worked in a variety of product marketing and consulting roles for the Thomson Corporation, Lotus Development and Sandpoint.

Benoit Julien, Ph.D.,Vice President, Technology

Benoit has over 15 years of experience in decision support systems, information extraction, and data management.

Prior to Generate, Benoit was the President and Founder of Netvention Inc., a leading provider of services for finding, extracting, and harvesting business information from the Web. Before starting Netvention in 1999, M. Julien was Director of Research and Development at the software publisher Softkit Technologies Inc. Prior to Softkit, he worked in the knowledge-based system group at the Computer Research Institute of Montreal (CRIM). Mr. Julien received his BS from Université Laval in Québec (1987) and his MS from University of Toronto (1989). He has obtained his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University (1992) in the area of machine learning and computer-aided engineering.


Juliana E. Spofford 
Counsel

Juliana brings extensive legal experience to Dow Jones in a wide variety of areas, including corporate, employment and intellectual property, and has primary responsibility at Dow Jones for contract, corporate, human resources and intellectual property matters.

Juliana holds degrees from Gemeentelijk Gymnasium, Hilversum, the Netherlands, Smith College and Northeastern University School of Law, from which she graduated in 1989. After law school, Juliana clerked for the Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Prior to Generate, Juliana worked for a variety of law firms, shaping her broad legal background. Most recently she worked for the Boston-based intellectual property firm Torti Flanagan, where she serviced a wide variety of U.S. and international high technology companies, primarily in the trademark and copyright areas. Before that she practiced corporate and employment litigation at the Worcester firm of Bowditch & Dewey. Juliana started her legal career at the Boston firm of Sullivan & Worcester where she concentrated in corporate litigation. Juliana has also worked on a variety of general legal matters (including domestic relations and personal injury) on a contract basis. She spent many years on the Board of Directors of the Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts and on the Human Rights Committee of the Mentor Network. She is currently on the Advisory Council of the UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center and on the board of her local parent teacher association.


Michael J. Lukaszevicz 
Vice President, Technology

Mike has extensive experience in the building of organizations that deliver highly-scalable, highly-available technology infrastructures and applications designed to address complex business problems.

Prior to Generate, Mike was CTO for OnlineAssistant, Inc. where he assembled and led the technology as well as the customer service team. Prior to OnlineAssistant, Mike helped found SwapIt.com. As Vice President of Technology at SwapIt, he led the team that built their highly-available e-commerce website in four months. Prior to SwapIt, Mike was Lead Architect for MyHelpdesk.com, where he was instrumental in the launch of their personalized support service for software and hardware. Prior to MyHelpdesk, Mike was part of the engineering team at Bright Tiger Technologies (sold to Macromedia). Prior to Bright Tiger, Mike worked for ZDNet as part of the team that launched Computer Shopper Online (NetBuyer.com).
