Dow Jones’s Privacy Policy
Dow Jones is committed to protecting information on the internet in which there is a reasonable expectation of privacy and is interested in the overall integrity of the internet. To that end, Dow Jones uses great care in the information it gathers from the internet for use in its products and services. Dow Jones has adopted a set of information management guidelines that serve as the basis for its collection of data. These guidelines are as follows:
- When gathering information from the internet, Dow Jones will gather information that is either public record, or in which there is no reasonable expectation of privacy.
- In deciding whether to use information from a site, Dow Jones will ascertain whether the web site maintains a privacy policy and/or a copyright policy. When a policy is in place, Dow Jones will respect such policy.
- If Dow Jones has ascertained that it can use information from a web site, Dow Jones will take great care to not use any copyrightable information from the original site, including, but not limited to, any frames, tables, graphics or anything else that may be original work and therefore copyrightable.
- Dow Jones will identify the origin of the materials, if the web site, company or agency requires Dow Jones to do so.
- If necessary, Dow Jones shall provide an “opt out” possibility for those whose information appears on a web site.
